Zig Zag Penetration

Slide a thick pen through a strange accordion-style card with four holes.

A spectator holds both ends of the pen firmly in place. A handkerchief is draped over everything, and in an impossible moment, you slowly pull the card away — yet the pen appears to melt right through it without any visible method. At no point do you reach inside the handkerchief or come into contact with the pen.

The effect can also be performed using a spectator’s finger instead of a pen, creating an even more visceral reaction as they feel the object pass through.

Because the audience experiences the illusion firsthand, reactions are consistently strong and immediate. Any object that fits the hole can be used, making the routine highly versatile and visual.
